I'm new to this forum and I'm not so good with cars but my mom's 2019 Toyota Corolla LE is acting up, and I'm trying to help her since she's not so good searching information online.
So she drove from Denver to Los Angeles without any problems. When she got there, she shut the car off for the night. The next morning, she started it up, and it reversed out of the parking spot just fine, but when she put it in Drive, it wouldn't engage.
She told me she checked under the hood and noticed the air filter housing wasn't properly seated. After she snapped it back into place, the car drove normally for a bit. However, as soon as she turned the car off and on again, the same problem came back. It would go into reverse but not drive.
Has anyone experienced this before? Could a disconnected air filter housing really cause a transmission issue like this, or is that just a strange coincidence? Any ideas on what else this could be? I'm trying to get a sense of what might be wrong before she takes it to a mechanic out there. I'd appreciate any insights and advice!
