how to disable daytime running lights

I got a 2014 Toyota Corolla with LED DRLs. Is disabling them as easy as just cutting a wire? Can anyone here tell me how to do it?

Check your headlight control knob theres an option to turn off there. If none then you would have to visit your dealer for that, they will be the one to work that out.

cutting the wire is easy, living with the reprecutions isn't. Try the advice you got from @TheSpartan, if there is a switch. If there isn't one, you can pull out the fuse, the drls should have a separate one. With that said, check if something else healidhgt related is linked to that fuse, you don't want to be driving in the dark.

Yep. it could mess with your car's electrical system. have you checked your owner's manual or the settings on your infotainment screen? sometimes it's under Lights or Vehicle Settings.

If there's no menu option, your Toyota dealer might be able to disable them for you, but they might charge you for it though

I've been asking myself the same question. I saw a similar post a few days ago and I'm more concerned about where people find these kinds of advices.

@theladydasher you have a relatively new car, there has to be a way to disable it through a software

You've raised some valid points. Cutting wires can definitely lead to some problems, so it's wise to check the fuse and the vehicle's settings before taking any drastic measures. Many newer Toyota models allow you to turn off the DRLs via the software or the infotainment system, it's definitely worth looking into or asking your dealer about that before making any permanent changes. I'm curious, though' what's sparking your desire to disable the DRLs?
